Child safety & Blinds

Pre BBSA regulations

Traditionally, roman blinds were fixed to wooden batons supported on brackets and raised with multiple cords that were tied and attached to the wall.

The dangers

This system proved hazardous to small children because they could become entangled in the looped cords and chains. Blind cords are one of the top five causes of hidden hazards in the home for children under five.

Post BBSA regulations

In 2014 the British Blind and shutter Association bought in new regulations to ensure all blinds were compliant with safety regulations to prevent small children harming themselves.

Make it safe

All Dark Side of the Room headrails are compliant with the 2014 regulations and are fitted with all the current safety devices at the point of manufacture.
