About me

My name is Debbie Le Cornu and I am a curtain maker based in Halstead  and offer a bespoke curtain and blind making service covering Essex and Suffolk. After training with the National Design Academy 10 years ago I opened Dark Side of the Room and started working from my kitchen table. Over the years Dark Side of the Room has grown into a successful business in a purpose-built workshop and I’m never happier than when the workroom doors are wide open, my labradoodle Margo is happily sunbathing in the garden and I’m creating something beautiful for your home.

Being a small company I get to know my clients and their projects individually giving you the reassurance that I will take care of the whole process from start to finish. My aim is to meet your requirements to the full and make sure we achieve your vision in a way that suits your personal taste and style. I love to make just about anything from fabric, from contemporary wave curtains to hand finished traditional pinch pleats. In addition to curtains I make roman blinds, pelmets, valances, cushions, bed throws, tie backs, lampshades, even dog beds to match your décor. I can also supply a wide range of tracks and poles and organise installation with a professional fitter. But regardless of if it’s one small window or an entire house my top priority is offering the same dedication and attention to detail to each project.
